+ Advert for KISS Tribute Band ‘Cold Gin’ [1992]
This tribute band has an interesting story.  The Ace Frehley and Peter Criss characters in the band were played by Tommy Thayer and Jaime St. James from the eighties hair metal band, Black N’ Blue.
Yes… that Tommy Thayer.
Black N’ Blue actually opened for KISS on their 1985 Asylum tour, but didn’t survive the early nineties due to the general public’s decreasing interest of hair metal altogether.  Tommy Thayer would eventually be hired by KISS to be a photo editor but his position ended up evolving into being a jack of all trades for the group:

Tommy: So, I started working full time for Gene and Paul literally doing anything and it wasn’t KISS-orientated to begin with.  I remember being at Paul’s (Stanley) and he said, we need you to go through these photos for KISStory, and I thought it was amazing looking at all these great KISS photos and picking things out.
But then he’d say, “Hey, but tomorrow come over a little early because I’m painting my bedroom so would you help me paint the house?”
(laughs)
Then, one day I’m at Gene’s (Simmons) and literally he said, “My gutter is stuffed.  Could you get up there and take out the leaves?” [X]

And here we are today, about to start a new KISS tour and Tommy Thayer is their official guitarist. Nuts, huh?
